Football Announces First Division I FCS Schedule

Skyhawks to celebrate 50 years of football with five home dates as part of nine game schedule for inaugural Northeast Conference season

2022 Football Schedule

EASTON, Mass. (May 26, 2022) – The Stonehill College football program is the first at the College to announce its first Division I schedule as the Skyhawks are set to begin their transition to NCAA Division I status as a member of the Northeast Conference on July 1.

Stonehill, which started as a club football program in 1970, will celebrate the 50-year history of the program over the course of the season, on a slightly belated basis due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Stonehill will play a nine-game schedule in its first Division I Football Championship Subdivision season, that will include its debut as a member of the NEC with a full seven game Conference schedule.

Stonehill will play five of its nine games at W.B. Mason Stadium, starting with a non-conference matchup with Post University on Saturday, September 10. Following two weeks off, the Skyhawks will open their NEC schedule by hosting Duquesne University of Pennsylvania as part of Family Weekend at the College on Saturday, October 1. Stonehill looks forward to welcoming back its 50-years of football alumni to that game and celebrate its history. More details on this event to come.

Also visiting W.B. Mason Stadium this fall are former Northeast-10 Conference rival Merrimack College on Saturday, October 29 and then Wagner College on Saturday, November 5, for a pair of NEC contests. Stonehill will also cap its 2022 season at W.B. Mason Stadium with a Senior Day matchup with Central Connecticut State University on Saturday, November 19.

Stonehill will open its 2022 season on the road with a non-conference encounter at Bloomsburg (Pa.) University on Saturday, September 3. The Skyhawks will visit reigning NEC Champions Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, on October 15, before heading back to the Keystone State for an NEC matchup at Saint Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania, on October 22. Stonehill's final road game of the season marks a return to Brookville, New York, to renew acquaintances with another former NE10 rival, of sorts, LIU on November 12.

Game times will be announced in the coming weeks, as well as ticketing information, with future Stonehill football schedules expected later in the summer.

Stonehill finished its final NE10 season in 2021 with an 8-2 record overall, including a 6-2 mark in the Conference to finish third in the final regular season standings. The Skyhawks capped their season with three-straight wins to reach the eight win mark for the first time since its NE10 regular season championship campaign in 2013 (8-3), while posting its first 8-2 season since 1996. The Skyhawks finished 6-2 in NE10 play for the first time since posting an 8-1 mark in 2013.
