Three Stonehill winter sports squads are set to resume their respective 2006-2007 schedules this weekend, as the Skyhawk ice hockey team returns to action on Friday evening by heading to Auburn, Mass. to take on Worcester State in an ECAC Northeast outing at Horgan Rink that faces off at 5:30 p.m. EST. Additionally, both Stonehill indoor track and field teams will travel to Kingston, R.I. on Saturday morning to participate in the University of Rhode Island Invitational that begins at 10:00 a.m. EST.

Head Coach Scott Harlow's ice hockey squad ended its first semester schedule on a high note in winning two of its final three contests, including a 4-3 overtime victory at Franklin Pierce on December 11th after a 3-1 triumph over defending Northeast-10 Conference regular season champion Southern New Hampshire on December 6th. The Skyhawks find themselves in a three-way tie for first place in the league standings with Saint Anselm and Southern New Hampshire at 2-0 in conference play, as Harlow's troops are led in scoring by sophomore Brendan O'Brien, who has netted three goals and 12 assists for 15 points. Junior Matt Curran adds a team-best 10 goals and two assists for 12 points, while fellow junior John Durkin has collected four goals and six assists for 10 points. Senior Matt Gorman, a two-time selection as Northeast-10 Goalie of the Week already this season, has made 240 saves for an .892 saves percentage while recording a 3.73 goals against average.

After road contests at Worcester State and Wentworth (on Tuesday evening), Stonehill returns home on Thursday, January 25th to host Western New England in an ECAC Northeast match-up at the Bridgewater Ice Arena beginning at 8:25 p.m. EST.

Both of Head Coach Karen Boen's indoor track and field squads have been idle since competing at the Harvard Invitational on December 9th, as the Skyhawks will compete in the Division I realm in each of its next two outings at Rhode Island this weekend and at Boston University on January 26th and 27th. Senior Dana Burbank has already been honored this season as the Northeast-10 Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week back on December 4th for his efforts at the Northeastern Husky Winter Carnival, while freshman Bridget DeVincent earned the nod as Northeast-10 Women's Freshman Track Athlete of the Week for her efforts in the same meet.

Stonehill will once again serve as the host institution for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships, which will take place on March 9th and 10th at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
