Monroe Township, N.J., native honored for third time over his career

EASTON, Mass. (December 7, 2009) - Stonehill College senior forward A.J. Rudowitz (Monroe Township, N.J./Monroe Township) has collected his second-straight Northeast-10 men's basketball Player of the Week award by the Conference office this afternoon.

Rudowitz, who earns the award for the third time in his career, averaged a double-double for the second-straight week in leading Stonehill to a pair of wins to assume first place in the NE-10 standings. He averaged 16.5 points and 11.5 rebounds to go with three blocked shots and 2.5 assists for the week, shooting a combined 50-percent from the field (9-for-18) while converting 15-of-20 (75%) free-throws in those two games.

Rudowitz, a first team All-Northeast-10 selection last season, posted his second double-double of the season (13th career) in Saturday's 75-63 comeback win over Southern New Hampshire with 20 points (12 second half) and a game-high 14 rebounds (five offensive) to go with four blocked shots. He also contributed 13 points and a game-high nine rebounds with four assists and two blocks in Wednesday's 61-52 win at Saint Anselm College.

Rudowitz ranks fourth in the NE-10 in both scoring and rebounding with 19.8 points and 10.0 rebounds per game, to go with 1.8 blocked shots (5th NE-10) and 2.0 assists in 31.7 minutes per game. He is shooting 58.3-percent (42-for-72) from the field (9th) while converting 73.3% (33-45) of his free-throws. Rudowitz ranks second among NE-10 leaders with 7.5 defensive rebounds per contest.

Rudowitz moved into 19th place on Stonehill's all-time scoring list last week with his 1,233 career points. In addition to his 13 career double-doubles, he has scored in double-figures 71 times in his collegiate career, including 11, 20 point outings. He has reached double-figures for rebounding 15 times.

Stonehill (5-1, 4-0 NE-10) is back in action tomorrow night for a key NE-10 battle with rival Bentley University, ranked 10th in the most recent NABC Division II poll, in Merkert Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m. At halftime, Stonehill will recognize its Fred C. Petti individual and team academic award winners for the 2008-09 academic year.
