Women’s Cross Country Makes Program Debut at ECAC/IC4A Championships

BRONX, N.Y. (October 13, 2023) - The Stonehill women's cross country team competed in the Bronx, N.Y. Friday afternoon in the ECAC/IC4A Championships Friday afternoon at Van Cortlandt Park as junior Emma Lawrence (Milford, Mass./Milford) placed 63rd out of 288 runners in the women's 6K race.

This is the first time the Stonehill cross country program has ever run in the ECAC/IC4A championships as the Skyhawk women tallied an 18th-place finish with 542 points out of 36 teams. Northeastern claimed the top spot for the women with three top-five finishes.

Highlights

  • Lawrence's 63rd-place finish was accompanied by a time of 22:13.4, 13 seconds faster than her last 6K race at the Paul Short Run on September 30th. Lawrence soared 25 spots up the leaderboard as she found herself in 85th place at the 3.9K checkpoint.
  • Sophomore Jordan Malloy (Colchester, Conn./Bacon Academy) placed 101st as she crossed the finish line at 22:40.8, one minute and six seconds faster than her time at the Paul Short Run two weeks ago.
  • Fifth-year Victoria Lombardi (Peabody, Mass./Peabody Veterans Memorial) rounded out the top trio for the Skyhawks as she finished in 22:52.5, good for a 121st place overall.

Other Performances

  • Freshman Kellie Harrington (Pittsfield, Mass./Pittsfield) notched a time of 23:01.1 as she set a new personal best in the 6K, shaving 20 seconds off her previous best from the Paul Short Run on September 30th.
  • Sophomore Emily Young (Newton, Mass./Beverly) was the fifth Skyhawk to cross the finish line as she notched a time of 23:26.6 to improve on her time from the Paul Short Run by 30 seconds while narrowly missing her personal best time in the 6K by a little over one second.
