Women’s Track and Field Improves on Opening Weekend at UMass Commonwealth Invite

AMHERST, Mass. (April 13, 2024) - The Stonehill College women's track and field team competed in the University of Massachusetts Commonwealth Invite Saturday afternoon at the UMass Track and Field Complex.

FIELD EVENTS

  • Freshman Rachel Morin (Glocester, R.I.) placed sixth in the high jump, leaping 1.49m (4' 10.5").
  • Sophomore Kaia Eder (Moorestown, N.J.) came in third place in the triple jump, hitting a mark of 11.08m (36' 4.25")
  • Sophomore Darla Jagrosse (Wallingford, Conn.) had a throw of 11.60m (38' 0.75") in the shot put to come in fifth.
  • In the hammer throw, junior Madison Gunderway (Cranston, R.I.) came in sixth place with a toss of 41.10m (134' 10").
  • Sophomore Sydney Cahill (Reading, Mass.) notched a sixth-place finish in the javelin throw, reaching 29.64m (97' 3")
  • Senior Cassidy Becker (North Attleboro, Mass.) set a new personal record in the javelin throw with a mark of 28.79m (94' 5"), placing seventh overall.

TRACK EVENTS

  • Junior Madison Rousseau (Canton, Mass.) tallied a first-place finish and ten points toward the Skyhawks team score, winning the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.45 seconds. In the 400m hurdles, Rousseau placed fourth, crossing the finish line in 1:07.72.
  • Becker also ran in the 100m hurdles, placing sixth and finishing the race in 15.32 seconds.
  • Freshman Katie Gibbons (Pembroke, Mass.) set a personal record in the 100m dash, finishing in 12.87 seconds to place sixth. She also placed fifth in the 200m dash with a time of 27.03 seconds.
  • Senior Kaytlin Encarnacao (Reading, Mass.) ran in the 800m race, placing second in the event, clocking in at 2:20.67 as she set a new personal best.
