Three Skyhawks Tally Top-Five Finishes at URI Invitational to Lead Women’s Track and Field

KINGSTON, R.I. (January 20, 2024) - The Stonehill College women's track and field team competed in the University of Rhode Island Invitational Saturday afternoon at Mackal Field House. Three different Skyhawks, as well as the 4x800m relay team, tallied top-five finishes for Stonehill.

FIELD EVENTS

  • Freshman Kayla Oakes (Kingston, N.Y.) placed third in the long jump while being the top freshman finisher in the event, reaching a mark of 5.37m.
  • In the triple jump, senior Cassidy Becker (North Attleboro, Mass.) made her field debut of the indoor season, notching a fourth-place finish with a jump of 10.71m. In her four-year career at Stonehill, this was her first time competing in the triple jump.
  • Coming in a tie for seventh place, senior Abigail Larsson (Bayport, N.Y.) vaulted herself over the bar at a height of 3.20m in the pole vault.
  • Sophomore Darla Jagrosse (Wallingford, Conn.) came in 12th place in the shot put with a throw reaching 10.81m.

TRACK EVENTS

  • In the 1-mile race, sophomore Jordan Malloy (Colchester, Conn.) improved on her solid performance from a week ago with a fifth-place finish, crossing the finish line in 5:02.81 to set a new personal best.
  • Sophomore Emily Young (Newton, Mass.) also did well in the mile race, placing 13th with a time of 5:23.22.
  • Freshman Katie Gibbons (Pembroke, Mass.) made her debut in the 400m race, placing eighth with a time of 1:01.96 while sophomore Aneka Andrews (McLean, Va.) placed 13th, clocking in at 1:03.82.
  • Senior Kaytlin Encarnacao (Reading, Mass.) finished the 500m race in 1:18.67 to place sixth and set a new personal best time in the event.
  • Freshman Madison Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.) came in 14th, and sophomore Grace Tyrrell (Cavendish, Vt.) finished in 17th place in the 500m.
  • Running in the 800m race, freshman Anna Casey (Medford, Mass.) placed 10th with a time of 2:28.54.
  • The 4x800m relay team of Malloy, Young, Casey, and freshman Sydney Kalil (Milford, Mass.) came in third place, combining for a time of 9:55.72.

  • Stonehill track and field returns to the TRACK at New Balance in Boston, Mass. on Saturday, Jan. 27 for a meet hosted by UMass Lowell.
