Stonehill collects eight All-New England honors over the two-day meet

Farrell earns her first-career All-New England honor in the shot put with a eighth-place finish

HANOVER, N.H. (May 12, 2018) – The Stonehill College women's track and field program, ranked first in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association East Regional poll saw 7 All-New England honor during the second day of competition at the New England Championships, 131^st edition at Memorial Field on the campus of Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire on Saturday.

Sophomore Madison Ward (Holliston, Massachusetts/Holliston) finished sixth in the high jump for her second-career All-New England accolade of her career. She cleared a height of 5 feet, 5.5 inches matching her career best taking home sixth place out of 22 competitors. Junior Courtney Daggett (Attleboro, Massachusetts/Attleboro) placed 20^th as she matched her season best mark of 5 feet, 3 inches.

In the shot put, senior Gaelin Farrell (Baldwinville, Massachusetts/Narragansett Regional) earned her first-career All-New England honor as she took home eighth out of 22 competitors. Farrell threw the shot put 42 feet, 3.25 inches. Sophomore Shayla Lyons (Westerlo, New York/Bishop Maginn/Berne-Knox Westerlo) placed 11^th overall with her mark of 41 feet, 8.75 inches. Lyons also competed in the discus throw tossing a distance of 122 feet, 10 inches.

The 4x100-meter relay quartet of Sinead O'Brien (Norwood, Massachusetts/Norwood), Emily Polvere (Somers, New York/Somers), Alison Tobin (Hudson, Massachusetts/Hudson), and Olivia Dexter (East Calais, Vermont/Union 32) took home All-New England honors with their fifth-place finish out of 15 teams. They clocked in a time of 47.80-seconds.

Dexter also ran in the 100-meter sprint as she finished fifth overall in the preliminary round yesterday. The junior clocked in a time of 12.25-seconds earning fourth overall. Yesterday she also qualified for the 200-meter finals with a sixth-place finish and topped her mark running the event in 24.76-seconds, good for another All-New England honor for fourth place. This brought her total to eight All-New England honors in her career.

Dexter collected three All-New England accolades this weekend, totaling eight for her career

Sophomore Zoe Smith (Rochester, Massachusetts/Old Rochester Regional) earned her first All-New England honor in her career as she finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles clocking in a time of 14.86-seconds after her eighth-place finish in the preliminary round.

The 4x800-meter relay team of Elizabeth Hannon (Franklin, Massachusetts/Bishop Feehan), Alyssa Freeman (Billerica, Massachusetts/Billerica Memorial), Kelly Higgins (Weymouth, Massachusetts/Weymouth), and Jillian Caiazzi (Marlborough, Massachusetts/Marlborough) also earned an All-New England honor finishing fifth out of eight teams clocking in a time of 9:17.77.

The 4x400-meter relay squad posted a time of 3:55.48 taking third in their heat, The quartet of Fiona Jordan (Norwood, Massachusetts/Norwood), Casey Gannon (Warwick, Rhode Island/Toll Gate), Ashley Colarusso (Tewksbury, Massachusetts/Tewksbury Memorial), and Krista Fernandes (Taunton, Massachusetts/Coyle and Cassidy) took home ninth overall out of 16 teams in the field.

Junior Hannon, who was originally ranked 24^th in the 1500-meter run clocked in a time of 4:34.73 taking home ninth place. Sophomore Anna Lastra (Bridgton, Maine/Fryeburg Academy) ranked 32^nd prior to competing, finished 24^th overall with a time of 4:46.82.

Junior Caiazzi clocked in a time of 2:14.02 in the 800-meter run finishing 16^th overall 30 competitors after being ranked 20^th prior to running.

Sophomore Jordan Callahan (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) competed in her first New England Championship running in the 3000-meter steeplechase and finishing 16^th out of 29^th with a time of 11:24.78.

Stonehill will be off next weekend before returning to action from May 24-26, when its qualified individuals compete at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by the Johnson C. Smith University at the Irwin Belk Complex in Charlotte, North Carolina.
