Women’s Track and Field DMR Hits NCAA PQ at New England Championships

DMR receives All-New England honor


Freeman ran a personal best time of 2:18.66 in the 800-meter sprint

ROXBURY, Mass. (February 2, 2018) – The Stonehill College women's track and field team wrapped up day one of the New England Championships in 13th with eight points, led by the distance medley relay team hitting a NCAA provisional mark on Friday at the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center.

The distance medley relay team consisting of Elizabeth Hannon (Franklin, Massachusetts/Bishop Feehan), Krista Fernandes (Taunton, Massachusetts/Coyle and Cassidy), Jillian Caiazzi (Marlborough, Massachusetts/Marlborough), and Anna Lastra (Bridgton, Maine/Fryeburg Academy) bypassed the NCAA provisional time of 12:05.41 with their second-place time of 11:56.76 and All-New England honor, finishing behind Boston College. Hannon kicked off the relay with a 3:37.8 1200-meter split, while Fernandes ran a 57.9 400-meter sprint. Caiazzi took the 800-meter third leg with a 2:16.2 time and passed off the baton to Lastra, who finished the mile leg in 5:04.8.

Freshman Fiona Jordan (Norwood, Massachusetts/Norwood) finished second in her heat in the 400-meter dash with a personal best time of 59.48 during preliminaries.

Sophomore Alyssa Freeman (Billerica, Massachusetts/Billerica Memorial) placed fourth in the preliminary round of the 800-meter run clocking in at a personal best time of 2:18.66.

Senior Emily Polvere (Somers, New York/Somers) and Olivia Dexter (East Calais, Vermont/Union 32) both finished second in their respective heats in the 200-meter dash. Dexter clocked in at 25.55, as Polvere finished the race in 26.07.

Stonehill wraps up the New England Championship with the final events tomorrow on Saturday, February 3 at the Reggie Lewis Track Center.
