SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 7, 2016) – The Stonehill College women's track & field team, ranked first in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East Region Computer Rankings, claimed its second Northeast-10 Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship in program history this weekend at American International College.

Stonehill, which held a narrow lead after day one action yesterday, posted five more All-Conference performances, including a meet and program record, three event wins and an NCAA Championship provisional qualifying effort today, finishing with 168 points. Southern Connecticut State University finished as the runner up with 136 points, while Merrimack College finished third with 127.50 points.

Junior All-American Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North), who set the meet and program record in winning the 1500-meter run title yesterday, earned her second NE-10 Championship today with a first-place finish in the 5000-meter run. Borofski once again set a meet and program record, clocking in at 16:55.98, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championship, while sophomore Emily Knox (Worcester, Massachusetts/Notre Dame Academy) and junior Alexandra Grimaldo (Marlborough, Massachusetts/Marlborough) finished sixth (18:13.45) and seventh (18:16.81), respectively.

Senior Trisha Pierson (East Hanover, New Jersey/Hanover Park) won her third consecutive discus title with a distance of 135-feet, 5-inches. Pierson also just missed out on All-Conference honors in the shot put, finishing third with a toss of 41-feet, 1-inch, while sophomore Gaelin Farrell (Baldwinville, Massachusetts/Narragansett Regional) placed fourth with a distance of 40-feet, 7.5-inches.

Junior All-American Aisha McAdams (North Kingston, Rhode Island/North Kingston) and senior All-American Erin Carberry (Milton, Massachusetts/Thayer Academy) swept the All-Conference honors in the 800-meter run, finishing first and second, respectively, with times of 2:15.77 and 2:16.85. Both runners just missed provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championship, as the time currently stands at 2:13.33.

Freshman Courtney Daggett (Attleboro, Massachusetts/Attleboro) is making a case for NE-10 Outdoor Field Rookie of the Year honors after winning the award for the Indoor Season, as she finished second in the high jump today with a height of 5-feet, 1.75-inches, earning All-Conference accolades.

Sophomore Emily Polvere (Somers, New York/Somers) led a list of four Skyhawk entries in the 200-meter dash prelims, posting the fourth-fastest time in the prelims (25.79 seconds), before finishing sixth in the finals with a time of 26.02 seconds. Freshman Olivia Dexter (East Calais, Vermont/U-32) placed fifth (25.96 seconds) in the prelims but led the Skyhawks in the finals with a third place finish in 25.51 seconds. Senior All-American Jordan Gray (Warwick, Rhode Island/Toll Gate) placed fifth in the finals with a time of 25.91 seconds, while senior All-American Leanne Kent (North Andover, Massachusetts/Central Catholic) finished in eighth place with a time of 26.10 seconds.

Junior Aisha McAdams won the 800-meter run today in 2:15.77.

Stonehill picked up three points in the hammer throw as junior Margaret Lepley (Lynn, Massachusetts/Bishop Fenwick) and senior Jenn Tenczar (Chicopee, Massachusetts.Chicoopee) placed seventh and eighth, respectively. Lepley recorded a throw of 140-feet, 3-inches, while Tenczar registered a distance of 137-feet, 1-inch. Lepley also earned three points in the Javelin, finishing sixth with a distance of 117-feet.

The Skyhawks' 4x100-meter relay of junior Tulie Finley-Moise (Lexington, Massachusetts/Lexington), Polvere, freshman Hannah Ameen (Andover, Massachusetts/Andover) and Dexter also turned in a strong performance, finishing third out of 11 entries with a time of 48.44 seconds, while the 4x400 meter relay team placed fourth. The quartet of Gray, senior All-American Jeana Esernio (Stony Brook, New York/Ward Melville), freshman Krista Fernandes (Taunton, Massachusetts/Coyle & Cassidy) and Kent ran to a time of 3:57.11.

Junior Alexandra Buonfiglio (Lynnfield, Massachusetts/Lynnfield) placed fourth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:26.91, while Gray finished eighth in the 400-meter dash, clocking in at 58.32 seconds.

Esernio just missed on All-Conference accolades when she placed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.92 seconds. Competing at her first Outdoor Championships, Fernandes registered a top ten finish in the 400-meter hurdles, placing ninth in 1:05.25.

Stonehill had three runners earn points in the 100-meter dash, as Dexter finished third with a time of 12.55 seconds, Polvere placed sixth in 12.81 seconds and Kent finished in eighth, clocking in at 12.91 seconds.

Freshman Colleen Perry (Weymouth, Massachusetts/Weymouth) finished in fourth place in the heptathlon with 3,647 points. Over the two days, Perry placed first in the high jump (4-feet, 11.75-inches) and 800-meter run (2:33.10). She was also fourth in the shot put (28-feet) and javelin (86-feet, 7-inches) to go with fifth place efforts in the 100-meter hurdles (17.67 seconds), 200-meter dash (28.87 seconds) and long jump (14-feet, 7.75-inches).

Stonehill will be back in action next Friday-Saturday at the New England Championships, hosted by Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Connecticut.
