BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (September 28, 2009) - The University of Bridgeport, ranked sixth in the most recent National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas East Regional poll, remained unbeaten with a come from behind 3-2 overtime victory over Stonehill College in a non-conference women's soccer match at Knights Field tonight.

Senior Emma Woolley (Sheffield, England) scored her first three goals of the season, including the match-winner 1:27 into overtime, and her hat trick effort led Bridgeport to victory. Her second goal of the night forced overtime with just 8:13 left in regulation.

Junior Kirstie St. Martin (Providence, R.I./Mount Saint Charles Academy) scored both Stonehill goals. Sophomore Alexandra Murphy (Weymouth, Mass./Weymouth) assisted on one of the St. Martin markers.

Junior Emelie Karstrom (Everod, Sweden) finished with four stops in goal for Bridgeport. Sophomore Sarah Hickey (Lee, Mass./Lee) posted seven stops in net for Stonehill who was outshot 19-12 for the match, including a 10-4 margin in the second half.

Woolley opened the scoring 14:07 into the match when she got on the end of a cross from senior Sofia Hoflin (Ostersund, Sweden) and directed it into the net for her first goal of the season. St. Martin equalized just over ten minutes later when she pounced on a defensive turnover and scored an unassisted tally at 24:44.

Stonehill forged in front with St. Martin's team-leading eighth goal of the season in the 74th minute as she collected a rebound off a shot by Murphy and gave the Skyhawks a late lead. Bridgeport answered with Woolley's second of the night with just 8:13 remaining in the second half with a long shot that nestled into the top corner and forced extra time.

Woolley's winning goal came on a rebound off a shot by junior Linda Velaj (Stamford, Conn./Westhill) less than two minutes into the first overtime session to keep the Purple Knights unbeaten through their first nine matches.

Stonehill (4-6-0, 2-5-0 NE-10) is right back in action on Wednesday when it hosts 22nd-ranked Franklin Pierce University at 4 p.m. Bridgeport (6-0-3, 0-0-0 ECC) hosts Caldwell College on Thursday at 6 p.m.
