Pelletier Named NE-10 Rookie of the Week for Second Time

Beverly, Mass., freshman selected after helping Skyhawks split two games

EASTON, Mass. (January 16, 2012) – Stonehill College freshman guard Amy Pelletier (Beverly, Mass./Bishop Fenwick) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference's Rookie of the Week for women's basketball by the league office this afternoon.

Pelletier earns the weekly honor for the second time after averaging 13 points on 52.9-percent (9-for-17) shooting from the field, including 6-for-13 (46.2%) from three-point range, while converting both free-throw attempts in a 1-1 week for Stonehill. She also averaged two assists and a rebound in 30 minutes per game for the Skyhawks.

Pelletier helped lead Stonehill to a 77-56 victory over Le Moyne College on Saturday as she netted 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field, including 4-for-8 from beyond the arc, to go with three assists and two rebounds. She totaled 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting, including 2-for-5 from deep, while converting both free-throw attempts at No. 20 Assumption on Wednesday.

Pelletier has started all 15 games in her first collegiate season for Stonehill and is fourth on the team in scoring with 9.7 points in 29.7 minutes per game. She is shooting 42.2-percent (54-128) from the field, including 38.3% (31-81) from three-point range (8th NE-10), while converting 7-of-8 (87.5%) free-throw attempts. Pelletier is also contributing 2.3 assists and 1.3 rebounds per contest. In 11 NE-10 starts, she is averaging 8.9 points on 42-percent (37-88) shooting from the field, including 36.5% (19-52) from beyond the arc. Pelletier earned All-Tournament team honors at the Assumption Tip-Off Classic in November.

Stonehill (8-7, 4-7 NE-10) is back in action on Tuesday night when it hosts American International College for a Northeast-10 matchup at Merkert Gymnasium at 5:30 p.m.
