EASTON, Mass. (March 19, 2012) – Stonehill College junior pitcher/utility player Nicole Eisenmann (East Bridgewater, Mass./East Bridgewater) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) Player of the Week for softball by the league office today.
Eisenmann led Stonehill to a 6-2 week overall (1-1 NE-10) hitting .583/.655/1.042 with five doubles, two homers and nine runs batted in. Eisenmann also hit .636 with runners on, .556 with runners in scoring position, .417 with two outs and notched three 2-out RBI's. In the field, Eisenmann was perfect in 27 chances. On Saturday in an 8-2 win against NYIT, Eisenmann fell a triple short of the cycle going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two runs batted in. Eisenmann has also hit safely in six consecutive games.
Eisenmann is the first member of the Skyhawks softball team to earn Player of the Week honors since catcher Courtney Young (Danvers, Mass.) earned the weekly honor on March 12, 2007.
On the season, Eisenmann is hitting .533/.600/.900 and has also made one appearance in the circle tossing two-thirds of a scoreless inning in a 5-1 win over The College of Saint Rose on March 10. The junior has compiled five multi-hit games this season and has only struck out once in the 30 at-bats.
Stonehill is off to its best start in its first ten games (8-2 overall, 3-1 NE-10) since 2001 when the Skyhawks went 8-2 and finished the season at 23-14-1 overall. Stonehill is currently riding a three-game winning streak and has outscored its opponents 69-29 in ten games so far on the season.
Senior Samantha Krantz (Hampton Bays, N.Y./Hampton Bays) also earned a NE-10 honorable weekly honor roll nod going 2-0 overall with two complete games in five appearances (two starts) compiling a 1.81 earned run average on 19.1 innings pitched.
Stonehill travels to Bentley University on Tuesday, March 20 for a Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) doubleheader tilt with game one beginning at 3 p.m.
