John Laverty, a longtime respected coach at the high school and collegiate levels in the Southeastern Massachusetts region, is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Stonehill women's cross country program.

Over the years he has earned multiple individual coaching awards, being named MSTCA XC Coach of the Year (both boys and Girls) in 2002, NFHS Northeast Sectional Girls' Coach of the Year in 2003, and was the runner-up NFHS Girls' National Coach of the Year in 2003.

Along with his own accolades, he has 50+ years of experience coaching in the high school and collegiate level with multiple collegiate All-Americans, multiple individual state champions, and has tallied over 500+ dual meet wins.
