NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.-- Both Stonehill cross country teams placed in the top 20 among competitors at the UMass Dartmouth Buddy Harris Memorial Invitational on Saturday afternoon, as the Skyhawk women placed 17th overall in the event while the Stonehill men posted a 20th place finish in the team standings.

Freshman Kasey Black (Hanson, Mass.) led the way on the women’s side by placing 83rd individually, while junior Jill Allen (Peabody, Mass.) was next in 91st place. Freshman Katie Brague (Mansfield, Mass.) and senior Kristen Metzger (Ellington, Conn.) finished in 100th and 102nd place, respectively for the Skyhawks, over the 5K layout.

On the men’s side, sophomore Kyle Sousa (North Dighton, Mass.) led the way over the five mile layout with a time of 26:58, good for 76th place individually, while fellow sophomore Ryan Gattoni (East Sandwich, Mass.) was next in 131st place with a time of 28:08. Sophomores Andy Schaalman (North Andover, Mass.) and Chris Rich (Hanson, Mass.) were next in placing 152nd and 156th, respectively, with times of 28:41 and 28:43.

Both Stonehill squads travel to The Bronx, N.Y. next Saturday morning to compete in the Iona Tournament of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park, with the women’s race beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by the men’s race at 11:00 a.m.
