Skyhawks Fall to St. Rose 3-1

Easton, Mass. - The Skyhawks hit well against St. Rose to take the first set before losing the last three to fall to the Golden Knights 3-1 and drop their record to 8-5 on the season. 

Stonehill started off strong, using well placed attacks from senior Katherine Masson (Acushnet, Mass.) and Laura Huselton (Penfield, N.Y.) to take the first set 25-22. 

The Skyhawks would falter in the second set, losing 25-14.  In the third set Stonehill fought to tie it up at 24 and 26 before losing 28-26.   

In the final set the St. Rose was able to capitalize on Skyhawk mistakes and take the fourth set 25-19. 

Huselton led Stonehill with 11 kills and a .476 attack percentage, three service aces and nine digs.  Masson and freshman Michelle Thornhill (Canyon Lake, Calif.) had ten kills apiece while setter Andrea Wirth (Mesa, Ariz.) added 33 assists and seven digs. 

Stonehill has the chance to rebound from the loss when they take on Le Moyne on Saturday, September 20 at 12:30 pm.
