Wirth and Thornhill Named Setter and Freshman of the Week

Easton, Mass. - Sophomore Andrea Wirth (Mesa, Ariz.) was named Northeast-10 Conference Setter of the Week, while teammate Michelle Thornhill (Canyon Lake, Calif.) was named the Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week as announced by the Conference on Monday. 

Wirth averaged 11.7 assists per set in a 1-1 week for the Skyhawks. She had 32 assists and four digs in a 3-0 win over Southern New Hampshire and a career high 50 assists (12.5 per set) and six digs in a 3-1 loss to Merrimack. It is the second time Wirth has been awarded setter of the week by the NE-10. 

Thornhill averaged 3.85 kills per set and 2.85 digs per set in two matches, including 14 kills and a .565 attack percentage in a 3-0 win against Southern New Hampshire.  It's the  third time she has been named freshman of the week. 

Senior Katherine Masson (Acushnet, Mass.) and sophomore Therese Mance (Milwaukee, Wis.) were also named to the Northeast-10 conference honor roll.   

Masson hit .328 with 4.14 kills per set in two matches, including a career high 20 kills in a 3-1 loss to Merrimack.  Mance averaged 4.29 digs per set and had two service aces in a 1-1 week, including a career high 23 digs in a 3-1 loss to Merrimack. 

The 16-10 Skyhawks look to move up in the conference standings when they host Southern Connecticut State on Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
