Pace Beats Skyhawks In Three Sets

Easton, Mass. - Stonehill was plagued by poor hitting and the Setters took advantage as Pace left Merkert Gym with a 3-0 win on Friday night. 

The first set saw the Skyhawks earn 23-20 lead before the Setters took advantage of Stonehill miscues to score the last five points of the set and win 25-23. 

In the second set Pace led early, but the Skyhawks fought back to tie it at 22. However, the Setters would take three of the last four points of the set to finish with a 25-23 win. 

Stonehill began the third set with a 9-4 lead, but Pace wouldn't go away and ended up taking the final set by a score of 25-19. 

Victoria Pompilus controlled the net for the Setters, as she had six kills and five blocks in the match. 

For the Skyhawks, Erin Johnson (Centerville, Mass.) had ten kills with a .375 attack percentage while freshman Laura Huselton (Penfield, N.Y.) had nine kills and 11 digs.

Andrea Wirth (Mesa, Ariz.) led Stonehill with 34 assists and four digs while freshman Lauren Twomey (Maple Grove, Minn.) and junior Samantha Marcin (Somers, N.Y.) had 12 and 11 digs respectively. 

The loss drops the Skyhawks to 10-8 on the season and 1-5 in the Northeast-10. 

Stonehill returns to action when they play host to Endicott on Monday, October 6 at 7:00 pm.
