Amundson Named Head Volleyball Coach At Stonehill College

North Easton, Mass. - Lauren Amundson, a former assistant coach at Division I Bryant University, has been named head coach at Stonehill, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Brendan Sullivan announced on Monday.

"We are thrilled to name Lauren as the next head coach of our Women's Volleyball program," said Sullivan. "Her experience as a successful Division II student-athlete has helped shape her as a person and as a coach. She is a talented, passionate coach and she will be a role model for our student-athletes for many seasons to come."

Amundson spent two seasons with the Bulldogs as the program transitioned into Division I, helping guide them to a combined 48-32 mark.

In her first year, Bryant's final in Division II, the Bulldogs went 32-13 and finished a perfect 14-0 in the Northeast-10 and reached the NCAA Regional Championship.

Amundson replaces Eric Snyder who resigned earlier this year to take the head coaching job at the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota.

"I'm thrilled to be the next coach here at Stonehill," said Amundson. "The foundations for success has been laid, and I have no doubt that I will help the student-athletes associated with this program continue in the upward trend towards the top of the Northeast-10."

Prior to Bryant, Amundson had a standout four-year career as a record-setting setter at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tenn. There, she owns six single-season or career records, including the Buccaneers all-time career assists mark (5,506). She also holds the school's single-season assists record, with 1,552 during her junior year, breaking the old mark of 1,390 she set as a freshman in 2003.

As a prep player at Stanwood High, Amundson helped her team advance to the state tournament three times, earning second-team all-conference honors in her senior campaign.

A member of the National Honor Society, Amundson was valedictorian of her graduating class in 2003.

A 2007 graduate of Christian Brothers with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Amundson, 24, is currently pursuing her MBA at Bryant and will graduate in the summer of 2009.
