Skyhawks Improve to 10-6

Easton, Mass. - The Skyhawks used excellent defense to match last season's win total and beat the Assumption Greyhounds 3-0 on Saturday. 

Stonehill came out playing tough, recording 20 digs, while allowing the Greyhounds just five kills on their way to winning the first set 25-13. 

In the second set Assumption hit slightly better but the Skyhawks had 12 kills and won 25-18. 

The Greyhounds played tough in the third set, tying it up at 21 before Stonehill scored four of the last five points to earn their second 3-0 win in three matches. 

Libero Therese Mance (Milwaukee, Wis.) led the defensive charge for the Skyhawks with 14 digs, while freshman Laura Huselton (Penfield, N.Y.) had 12.  

Senior Katherine Masson (Acushnet, Mass.) and freshman Anna Barczak (Ridgefield, Conn.) both had double digit kills for Stonehill with 11 and 10 respectively.  Andrea Wirth (Mesa, Ariz.) led the team with 33 assists and added six digs. 

With the win the Skyhawks improve to 10-6 on the season, matching last years win total. 

Stonehill next faces off against Bentley, when they travel to Waltham on Tuesday, September 30, with the match set to begin at 7:00 pm.
