Skyhawks Go 1-1 on Saturday, Improve to 12-9
Garden City, N.Y. - The Skyhawks fell to Adelphi 3-1 in their first match of the afternoon, but rebounded to beat Molloy in three sets and improve to 12-9 on the season.
Stonehill fell 25-17 and then 25-15 in the first two sets before rebounding with a 25-23 victory in the third set.
Adelphi would recover in the fourth set, taking out the Skyhawks 25-14 to earn the victory. Andrea Wirth (Mesa, Ariz.) led Stonehill with 22 assists and seven digs, while Therese Mance (Milwaukee, Wis.) added 15 digs.
In the second match of the afternoon, the Skyhawks came out with intensity and didn't let up, beating Molloy 25-16, 25-16 and 25-16 to earn their 12th win of the season. Freshman Lauren Twomey (Maple Grove, Minn.) had 17 digs for Stonehill.
The Skyhawks return to action on Tuesday when they play host to Post University at 7:00 pm.
