Skyhawks Drop Nightcap To Host Chargers, 3-1

West Haven, Conn. - Junior Katherine Masson (Acushnet, Mass.) and sophomore Heidi Woerner (North Kingstown, R.I.) each had nine kills and freshman Andrea Wirth (Mesa, Ariz.) added 25 assists but it wasn't enough as the Skyhawks dropped the second game of their opening night doubleheader at the 2007 Baden Invitational, 3-1 to host New Haven.

Stonehill jumped out early, taking the first game, 30-27. That game was tied at 13-13 before the Skyhawks won the next eight points and took control. The Chargers responded however, winning the next two games in convincing fashion, 30-15 and 30-18, respectively, before eking out the fourth game, 30-28.

Stonehill hit .289 in the first game when it registered 16 kills, but hit under .100 in the final three games and finished the match hitting .054.

Anicia Wood had 19 kills on .600 hitting, while Yael Rosner, logged a double-double with 49 assists and 12 digs for UNH.

Skyhawk freshmen Justine Thompson (Merrimack, N.H.) and Erin Johnson (Centerville, Mass.) combined for 26 digs and sophomore Mary Gannon (Lowell, Mass.) chipped in with five kills and 11 digs.

Stonehill (0-2) returns to action on Wednesday, September 5, when it travels to Franklin Pierce for its first Northeast-10 contest of the season.
