Skyhawks Fall To Undefeated Chargers, 3-1

New London, N.H. - Stonehill followed up their first win of the season with a 3-1 loss to an undefeated Colby-Sawyer squad on Monday night in New Hampshire.

Stonehill took game one 30-26, but dropped the final three games 37-35, 30-28 and 30-24.

The Chargers, who are now 10-0, got 16 kills from Montana Molyneux and 15 more from Michelle Doody, to lead their attack.

Stonehill was paced by junior Katherine Masson (Acushnet, Mass.) who posted a match-high 18 kills to go along with her six digs. Freshman Andrea Wirth (Mesa, Ariz.) had an excellent floor game, collecting 46 assists and 14 digs.

Game two proved to be the turning point for the match, when even though the Skyhawks had a higher hitting percentage (.250 to .172), the Chargers produced more kills (21-19).

Samantha Marcin (Somers, N.Y.) recorded a team season best 29 digs, while freshman Justine Thompson (Merrimack, N.H.) notched her second straight double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs.

Stonehill, which fell to 1-9, returns to Northeast-10 action on Wednesday when it travels to Springfield for a match with American International.
