Skyhawks Can't Get Over Hump In 3-2 Loss

North Easton, Mass. - The Greyhounds won the first two games by identical 30-26 scores before the Skyhawks took games three (30-19) and game four 30-25.

In the deciding game, Assumption held leads of 6-3 and 12-10 when Stonehill took advantage of poor serving by the Greyhounds to knot the score at 12 and take a 13-12 lead following a kill by freshman Justine Thompson (Merrimack, N.H.). The teams traded several points before Assumption posted the 18-16 win.

Stonehill got several spectacular individual performances, including Thompson's 12-kill, 54-dig outing. Junior Katherine Masson (Acushnet, Mass.) also recorded a double-double with 18 kills and 24 digs. Freshman Andrea Wirth (Mesa, Ariz.) added 22 digs and 50 assists, while classmate Michelle Jacques (Medfield, Mass.) added 27 digs.

The Skyhawks, now 6-17 and 3-7 in the Northeast-10, return to the court on Friday when they travel to Endicott for a non-Conference showdown with the Gulls.
