Masson Registers 21 Kills, Hordern Adds 35 Set Assists, 19 Digs And Six Aces As Volleyball Notches 3-2 Non-League Victory Over Post

EASTON, Mass.-- Sophomore Katherine Masson (Acushnet, Mass.) registered 21 kills, 15 digs and five total blocks to lead Stonehill to a 3-2 non-league college volleyball victory over Post Thursday evening by game scores of 24-30, 30-25, 30-23, 27-30 and 15-9 in a match played at Merkert Gymnasium.

Junior Rebekah Saunders (Gilford, N.H.) added 13 kills and seven digs in the triumph for the host Skyhawks (3-10), who took the third game by scoring 13 of the last 17 points before the visiting Eagles (4-11) rallied to take the fourth game. The two teams were even at 6-6 in the fifth and deciding contest before Stonehill scored nine of the final 16 points to claim the match victory.

Freshman Kristen Hordern (Swansea, Mass.) chipped in with 35 set assists, 19 digs and six service aces for the Skyhawks, who also received 21 digs and seven service aces from freshman Samantha Marcin (Somers, N.Y.) as well as 18 digs from junior Tara Munch (West Islip, N.Y.).

Sophomore Kerry Smith (Lynbrook, N.Y.) notched 14 kills and 18 digs in the setback for Post, which also received 13 kills from senior Tadj Williams (Albany, N.Y.). Freshman Gabrielle Hopkins (Yonkers, N.Y.) added 44 set assists, eight digs and six service aces for the Eagles, who also received 14 digs from junior Vicky Ducharme (Nashua, N.H.).

Stonehill heads to Colchester, Vt. on Saturday afternoon to take on Saint Michael's in a Northeast-10 Conference match that begins at 1:00 p.m., while Post hosts Goldey-Beacom in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match on Saturday afternoon in Waterbury, Conn. that begins at 1:00 p.m.
