Saunders, Masson Earn Spots On 2006 Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference Volleyball Team

Junior Rebekah Saunders and sophomore Katherine Masson represent Stonehill as individuals selected to the 2006 Northeast-10 Conference Volleyball Academic All-Conference squad as voted by the league's 15 sports information directors.

Saunders, a native of Gilford, N.H. and a graduate of Gilford High School, serves as team captain for Head Coach Brad Alexander's Skyhawks, as she has posted a 3.64 cumulative grade point average as a Criminology major at Stonehill. Saunders, who earned second team Academic All-Conference honors, leads the Skyhawks in digs (185) and ranks second in kills (179) while amassing 21 total blocks to date, a category she led Stonehill in as a sophomore while ranking among the team leaders in kills, digs and service aces during her first two seasons as a Skyhawk.

Masson, a native of Acushnet, Mass. and a graduate of New Bedford High School, earned third team Academic All-Conference accolades and leads Stonehill with 285 kills and a .214 attack percentage to date, as she has recorded double-digit kill totals in 18 of the Skyhawks' 24 matches to date. Masson, who has posted a 3.66 grade point average as a Biology major at Stonehill, ranked among the team kill leaders as a rookie in 2005 with 157 while amassing 20 total blocks as a freshman as well.

A total of 13 Stonehill student-athletes have been named to their respective Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference squads to date, including six in football, four in women's soccer and one in men's soccer. Academic All-Conference honorees must have attained a 3.20 or higher grade point average, must be in their third semester of matriculation and must be a starter or significant contributor to their respective sport in competition.
