New Haven, Conn. - Freshman Angela Miller (Brockton, Mass./Brockton) helped the Stonehill College Women's Outdoor Track & Field team get off to great start at the Southern Connecticut State University Invitational held Saturday.  The rookie's two top-10 finishes lead the Skyhawk women to 16 total points, a ninth place finish.

Miller, who also competed for the Women's Indoor track team, finished the 100 Meter Dash in 13.15 to claim one team point for the Purple and White.  Miller matched her sixth place performance with a 26.94 finish in the 200 Meter Dash.  

Sophomore Katrina Harkins (Derry, N.H/Central Catholic) competed in both the 100 Meter Dash and 200 Meter Dash, as well.  She finished 13th in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 13.80.

Senior Amanda Carnevale (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland) provided another top-ten finish for the Skyhawks.  Her 1:02.86 mark in the 400 Meter Dash placed tenth behind Shaina Barr of Southern Conn.

Junior captain Jenn Gardynski (Everett, Mass./Everett) took 11th place in the 1500 Meter Run.  Gardynski turned in a gutsy performance finishing the event in 5:00.75.

Sophomores Anna Kern (Attleboro, Mass./Attleboro) and Megan Breault (Dayville, Conn./Killingly) each finished well for Stonehill.  Kern took eighth for the women in the 100 Meter Hurdles.  She finished in 17.33.  Kern also competed in the Long Jump, taking sixth with 4.96m leap.

Breault claimed sixth place with a time of 1:13.32 in the 400 Meter Hurdles.

Meghan Rocha (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin) rounded out the field events for the young Stonehill squad.  Rocha, a sophomore, tossed the discus 36.34m (119'3" ft) to take fourth in the event.  Her finish earned the Skyhawks four team points.  She also had a seventh place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 34.62m (113'7" ft).

Both Stonehill College's Men's and Women's Track & Field teams will be hosting a home event next weekend.  The event is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
