Skyhawks Third At Ne-10 Championships

Smithfield, R.I. - With their relay teams leading the way and several second place finishes, Stonehill finished third at the 2008 Northeast-10 Outdoor Track Championships held by Bryant University.

Southern Connecticut claimed the team title with a score of  219.33, while UMass-Lowell (157.66) was second and the Skyhawks (112) finished third.

The 4x400 and the 4x800 relay teams both earned championship titles after breezing to first place finishes. Meghan Rocha also collected an individual championship with the top finish in the discus throw.

Jen Gardynski took home second place honors in the 3000 meters, while Lesley Clunie also finished second in the 5000. Nicole Radzik of Bryant, who set the championship record in the event a season ago, won the event again this year setting a new mark of 18:03.44. Gardynski also had a fifth place showing in the 1500 meters.

Freshman Angela Miller (Brockton, Mass.) turned in a fifth place finish in the 200 meter dash, while Meghan Breault and Ashley Lane were second and third respectively in the 400 meter hurdles. The case was the same for Hillary Curtis (2) and Lindsey Booth (3) in the 800 meters.

Katie Brague placed third in the 10000 meters, while freshman Colleen Carmen continued her stellar season with a second place finish in the high jump.
