May 16, 2007

Easton, Mass.-- Stonehill College senior women's track & field standout Dana DeIngenis will attempt to become the first two-time All-America in school history next week when she competes in the 1,500 meters at the 2007 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Johnson C. Smith University at the Irwin Belk Complex in Charlotte, N.C.

DeIngenis, a native of Cranston, R.I. and a graduate of St. Mary's Academy-Bay View, will look to repeat her success of 2006 when she became the first female Skyhawk track All-America with an eighth place finish at last year's NCAA outdoor championships in Emporia, Kan. DeIngenis is seeded 11th in this year's 1,500 meter championship field after posting a school-record best time of 4:36.43 this spring and will compete in the qualifying race in the event on Thursday, May 24th beginning at 4:20 p.m. EDT, with the 2007 national championship 1,500 meter event set for Saturday, May 26th at the Irwin Belk Complex beginning at 5:50 p.m. EDT.

DeIngenis will have competed in all three NCAA national championship events in the sports of cross country, indoor track and outdoor track during the 2006-2007 academic year after her visit to Charlotte, as she is one of four females in school history to make that claim. She guided Head Coach Karen Boen's cross country squad to its eighth straight trip to the NCAA national championships in November and just missed earning All-America accolades in the indoor mile
