CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- Stonehill senior standout Dana DeIngenis (Cranston, R.I.) came up just short in her attempt to become the first two-time women's outdoor track All-America in school history on Saturday evening after placing 10th overall in the national championship 1,500 meter race at the 2007 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Johnson C. Smith University's Irwin Belk Complex.

DeIngenis posted a time of 4:37.60 in the championship race for the Skyhawks after also finishing 10th in Thursday's qualifying heat, as Seattle Pacific freshman Jessica Pixler claimed the national crown in the race with a time of 4:22.23. DeIngenis was bidding to repeat her All-America effort of last spring when she finished eighth in the 1,500 meters at the 2006 NCAA national championships in Emporia, Kan.

DeIngenis finished her stellar career as one of only four women in Stonehill history to compete in the NCAA national championships in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track. In this academic year alone, she led the Skyhawks to their sixth Northeast-10 Conference and NCAA Northeast Regional titles in cross country and also competed for the national championship in the indoor mile in March at the 2007 NCAA championships hosted by Stonehill at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston before her effort this weekend in the outdoor 1,500 meters.
