EASTON, Mass.-- Freshman Lauren Rowinski's (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) three-set win at number three singles proved to be the difference as fourth-seeded Stonehill notched a 5-4 dual-match victory over fifth-seeded Southern New Hampshire in quarterfinal round play of the 2007 Northeast-10 Conference Women's Tennis Championships Thursday afternoon on the Stonehill Courts.

The host Skyhawks, now 12-6 overall on the season, advance to take on top-seeded Saint Michael's (13-6) in Saturday's first semi-final that will be played on the Stonehill Courts beginning at 1:00 p.m., as the Purple Knights advanced with a 5-1 triumph over eighth-seeded Assumption in another quarterfinal round contest Thursday.

After dropping the first set 6-0, Rowinski rallied to win a second set tiebreaker to force the deciding set against junior Kristen Franco (Bedford, N.H.) of the visiting Penmen (who finish their season at 8-6 overall), prevailing 6-4 for the clinching point of the match. Rowinski was also involved in a close match in doubles play with junior Elise Clark (Spring Lake, N.J.), as the duo claimed a 9-8 triumph by winning the tiebreaker 7-5 at the number two spot. Junior Daniella Granato (Concord, Mass.) and freshman Samantha Dircks (Stony Brook, N.Y.) posted straight set singles victories on the day for Stonehill and teamed up for an 8-6 triumph at the number one doubles spot to account for the Skyhawk scoring.

Junior Melissa Ramos (Stoughton, Mass.) was a winner in both singles and doubles play for Southern New Hampshire, posting a straight set win at number five singles while teaming up with junior Amanda Nason (Center Sandwich, N.H.) for an 8-2 victory at number three doubles. Junior Juliet Verhofstad (Plymouth, N.H.) and sophomore Meghan Welch (Mount Vernon, N.H.) also posted straight set singles triumphs for the Penmen in the setback at the numbers two and six spots, respectively.

Stonehill will be looking to avenge a 6-3 setback suffered to Saint Michael's in regular season play back on March 31st on the Stonehill Courts. Saturday's other semi-final will pit second-seeded Bentley (15-9) against third-seeded Bryant (12-5) beginning at 3:30 p.m., and the two semi-final winners will meet for the 2007 Northeast-10 title on Sunday afternoon on the Stonehill Courts beginning at 11:00 a.m.
