EASTON, Mass.-- The Stonehill women's tennis team began its quest for the 2006 Northeast-10 Conference Championship on Wednesday afternoon by setting a school single-season record for victories, as the top-seeded Skyhawks posted a 5-0 victory over eighth-seeded Saint Anselm on the Stonehill Courts.

Senior Ashley Todd (Weymouth, Mass.) and sophomore Daniella Granato (Concord, Mass.) each posted wins in both singles and doubles play on the day for Stonehill, as the win was the Skyhawks' 14th straight overall dating back to March 8th and broke the 1992 squad's single season mark for victories in the process, as the hosts improve to 16-1 on the season.

Granato teamed up with senior Jennifer Arcabascio (Salem, N.H.) for an 8-5 win at number one doubles, while Todd and senior Anna Walsh (Dennis, Mass.) were 8-1 winners at the number two doubles spot. Sophomores Elise Clark (Spring Lake, N.J.) and Allison Bleakney (Lewiston, Maine) picked up the other point of the day with an 8-2 win at number three doubles for Stonehill, which advances to Saturday's Northeast-10 semi-finals to take on fifth-seeded Saint Michael's on the Stonehill Courts beginning at 1:00 p.m, as the Purple Knights advanced with 5-0 quarterfinal round triumph at fourth-seeded LeMoyne.

The visiting Hawks close out their season with an overall mark of 6-10 with Wednesday's setback.
