BLOOMSBURG, Pa.-- Senior Karen Chang (Woodside, N.Y.) and freshman Alyssa Morra (Bronx, N.Y.) posted wins in both singles and doubles play to lift fifth-seeded Queens (N.Y.) to a 5-0 victory over fourth-seeded Stonehill in first round play of the 2006 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis East Regionals Thursday afternoon at Bloomsburg University's Tennis Complex.

The Knights, now 13-4 overall, advance to take on top-seeded Bloomsburg in second round action on Friday morning at the Bloomsburg Tennis Complex at 9:00 a.m., as the host Huskies defeated eighth-seeded Philadelphia Sciences in Thursday's other first round match-up.

Chang posted a straight-set win at number two singles and teamed with junior Dominika Bajuk (Howard Beach, N.Y.) for a 9-7 triumph at number one doubles for Queens, while Morra notched a straight-set win at number three singles and teamed with senior Tina Shmulenich (Merrick, N.Y.) for an 8-6 triumph at number two doubles. The junior tandem of Jennifer Merideth (Huntington, N.Y.) and Andrea Condur (Middle Village, N.Y.) picked up the Knights' other point with an 8-5 win at number three doubles.

The Skyhawks close out their best season ever at 17-3 overall, as Stonehill captured its first outright Northeast-10 Conference championship in 14 years and set a school single-season victories in the process. The Skyhawks earned their second straight NCAA championship berth and third in the last four seasons as well.
