SMITHFIELD, R.I.-- Stonehill won the battle of Northeast-10 Conference women's tennis unbeatens on Tuesday afternoon, as the Skyhawks claimed four of the six singles matches to post a 5-4 league dual-match victory over Bryant at the Bryant Tennis Complex, snapping the Bulldogs' 35-match regular season conference winning streak that dated back to October 2002 in the process.

Sophomore Daniella Granato's (Concord, Mass.) win at number five singles in a tie-breaker clinched the triumph for the visiting Skyhawks, who trailed 4-1 in the match but rallied to improve to 14-1 overall and clinch at least a tie for the Northeast-10 regular season crown in going to 11-0 in conference play with their 12th consecutive victory overall dating back to March 8th. Stonehill, ranked seventh in ITA East Regional play, matched the second highest win total in school history in picking up its 14th triumph, matching the mark of the 1991 squad.

Granato, senior Anna Walsh (Dennis, Mass.) and sophomores Elise Clark (Spring Lake, N.J.) and Allison Bleakney (Lewiston, Maine) each posted straight set singles victories for Stonehill, which collected its other point of the day when Granato and senior Jennifer Arcabascio (Salem, N.H.) teamed up for an 8-6 triumph at the number one doubles spot over Bryant juniors Sacha Solomon (Bourne, Mass.) and Annette Jervasi (Colchester, Conn.), handing the Bulldog duo their first-ever league setback in doubles play.

Senior Alex Spence (Lynnfield, Mass.) was a winner in both singles and doubles play on the day for Bryant, posting a straight-set win at number two singles while teaming with senior Alanna Santanello (North Providence, R.I.) for an 8-4 win at number two doubles. Solomon won in straight sets over Arcabascio at number one singles, while sophomores Lauren Mullen (Braintree, Mass.) and Michelle Burke (Barrington, R.I.) at posted an 8-5 win at number three doubles.

Stonehill can claim its first outright Northeast-10 regular season championship in 14 years on Wednesday afternoon when the Skyhawks head to Manchester, N.H. to take on Southern New Hampshire in a league dual-match that begins at 4:00 p.m. Bryant closes out Northeast-10 regular season play on Wednesday afternoon as well by hosting Bryant in a conference dual-match at the Bryant Tennis Complex that begins at 3:30 p.m.
