SYRACUSE, N.Y.-- The Stonehill women’s tennis team picked up its second straight victory of the young season on Saturday afternoon in posting a 5-4 Northeast-10 Conference dual-match triumph over LeMoyne at the Niland Center.

Juniors Ashley Todd (Weymouth, Mass.) and Jennifer Arcabascio (Salem, N.H.), along with freshman Daniella Granato (Concord, Mass.), were winners in both singles and doubles action for the visiting Chieftains (2-0, 2-0 Northeast-10), as Todd and Arcabascio each won their respective singles matches at the number two and three spots in three sets. Arcabascio, now 29-1 in her career in singles play, teamed up with senior Karen McAuley (Raynham, Mass.) for an 8-2 win at number one doubles for Stonehill, while Todd and Granato were 8-3 winners at the number two doubles spot for the Chieftains.

Junior Mallory Desimone (Clay, N.Y.) and Sue Negali were winners in both singles and doubles action for the host Dolphins (3-4, 2-2 Northeast-10) in their setback, as the two combined for an 8-6 win at number three doubles in addition to their singles triumphs. Senior Katie Fiato (Vestal, N.Y.) was a straight-set winner at number one singles on the afternoon for LeMoyne.

Stonehill heads to Springfield, Mass. on Tuesday afternoon for a Northeast-10 dual-match with American International that begins at 3:00 p.m., while LeMoyne will be idle until next Saturday afternoon when the Dolphins head to Manchester, N.H. to take on Saint Anselm in a Northeast-10 dual-match that begins at 1:00 p.m.
