RIVERSIDE, R.I.-- Juniors Ashley Todd (Weymouth, Mass.) and Jennifer Arcabascio (Salem, N.H.) each posted wins in both singles and doubles play as second-seeded Stonehill advanced to the championship round of the 2005 Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Tennis Championships with a 5-0 semi-final round victory over sixth-seeded LeMoyne Saturday afternoon at the Centre Court Tennis Club.

The Chieftains, now 13-1 on the season, will take on top-seeded Bryant in Sunday’s championship match to be played at the Ames Sports Complex on the Stonehill campus beginning at 11:00 a.m. The Bulldogs notched a 5-2 victory over fourth-seeded Saint Michael’s in Saturday’s other semi-final round contest.

Todd and Arcabascio each posted straight set singles wins on the day for Stonehill in the first-to-five points scoring format, as Arcabascio teamed up with senior Karen McAuley (Raynham, Mass.) for an 8-3 triumph at number one doubles while Todd and freshman Daniella Granato (Concord, Mass.) posted a 9-8 triumph at the number two doubles spot. Senior Susan Noblin (Raynham, Mass.) and freshman Elise Clark (Spring Lake, N.J.) combined for the final Chieftain point of the day with an 8-5 win at number three doubles.

The Dolphins finish their season with an overall record of 8-9.

Stonehill will be playing in the Northeast-10 championship match for the second time in three seasons, while Bryant will be looking to defending its conference tournament crown from last year. The Bulldogs defeated the Chieftains by a 7-2 margin in their regular season dual-match last Saturday afternoon on the Stonehill Courts.
