Middle of the Pack Prediction For Skyhawks

North Easton Mass. - Despite of the loss of key seniors from a 2007 campaign that saw the Stonehill make an appearance in the conference tournament, the Skyhawks were picked to finish eighth in the Northeast-10 preseason coaches poll it was announced by the Conference office.

Franklin Pierce, who lost in the national championship game last season, took eight first place votes en route to 218 points and first place. They edged out 2007 regular season and conference tournament champion Saint Rose, who finished with 217 points and seven first place votes.

The Skyhawks lost three All-New England performers, but return seven of their top eight scorers from a season ago, including sophomores Kirstie St. Martin (Providence, R.I.) and Michele Norton (Abington, Mass.). That duo combined to score six goals and give out seven assists, with Norton's four helpers leading the team. St. Martin, meanwhile had 13 points in her inaugural campaign, including two goals in a win over Bentley.

After playing her first two seasons in goal, senior Marissa Bramwell (Norton, Mass.) moved to defense as a junior but returns to the net in her final season.

The Skyhawks open their 2008 campaign at home against New York Tech on August 30.
