Boyd, Bazinet Named NE-10 Co-Players of the Week

Lauren Boyd leads the Stonehill squad with nine goals.

Easton, Mass. - Lauren Boyd (Sandwich, Mass.) and Erin Bazinet (Charlton, Mass.) were named Northeast-10 Co-Players of the Week on Monday.  The Skyhawk duo each had three goals in the past week; including two each in Stonehill's 6-2 win over American International College.

Bazinet, a sophomore, has four goals this season.  Her three scores in the last two games match her total for the entire 2006 season.  Bazinet's first marker of 2007 came September 15th against the Saint Michael's Purple Knights.  Since then, the Skyhawks are 5-1-2.

Boyd, a senior captain, leads the Skyhawks with nine goals and is currently ranked fourth in scoring in the Conference.   Her 37th collegiate goal paved the way for a 3-0 Conference victory Saturday, against Southern New Hampshire University.  Boyd is on her way to claiming the team's scoring title for the third straight year.

This season the teammates have combined for 13 of the teams' 26 goals.  During Stonehill's recent 5-1-2 run, the Skyhawks have outscored opponents, 19-6.  Bazinet and Boyd together have nine scores during this stretch.

The women are on the road this week; Saturday at Pace and Monday and Indiana (Pa.).  The duo, as well as the rest of the Stonehill Skyhawks (6-4-2), will return home October 17th to host the Merrimack Warriors.
