Women's Soccer Stars Continued to be Honored

Boyd's 11 goals led the highest scoring Stonehill team in the school's history.

2007 NSCAA/Adidas NCAA Division II Women All-New England Region Team

Easton, Mass. - Lauren Boyd (Sandwich, Mass.) and Hilary Eckhardt (Marshfield, Mass.) were selected to the 2007 NSCAA/Adidas NCAA Division II Women All-New England Region team yesterday.  This prestigious honor adds to a long list of awards the seniors have earned for their efforts last fall.

Boyd, who scored 11 goals, lands on the first team. Eckhardt, an unsung defensive specialist, received third team honors.  Their latest honor extends an already impressive list of accolades for the women.

Boyd collected a second straight 2007 Division II  Daktronics All-Region Women's Soccer honor in early November.  She was also one of three Skyhawks named to the NEWISA All-New England team.  In mid-October Lauren was named to the Academic All-Conference team.  She followed that up by earning CoSIDA Academic All-District honors.  Boyd was also earned Northeast-10 All-Conference First team honors for the second straight season.

In addition to this award, Eckhardt was named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference Second Team.  Like Boyd, Hilary also earned NEWISA All-New England honors.  Eckhardt's latest honor is well deserved for a player whose hard work often goes unnoticed.  Hilary started all 18 games for the Skyhawks, extending her career streak to 49 consecutive starts.   An outstanding athlete, Hilary commanded a strong defense as the team's sweeper.

Both women will graduate this spring.
