EASTON, Mass.-- Junior Alex Eckhardt (Marshfield, Mass.) made eight saves in goal as Stonehill battled 13th-ranked Assumption to a scoreless double overtime tie in the Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer opener for both teams Tuesday afternoon at Skyhawk Field.
The host Skyhawks (0-0-1, 0-0-1 Northeast-10) held a 21-14 edge in shots in their season opener, including an 11-7 margin in the second half of regulation, but neither team was able to convert. Junior Lauren Matysiak (Holden, Mass.) earned the shutout in net for the visiting Greyhounds (0-1-1, 0-0-1 Northeast-10) with a nine-save effort for the contest.
Stonehill hosts Saint Rose in a Northeast-10 outing on Saturday afternoon at Skyhawk Field beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Assumption travels to Waltham, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to battle Bentley in a league match that begins at 2:00 p.m.
