Stonehill Hosts Southern Conn. on Senior Day

Easton, Mass. - The Skyhawks will close out their regular season home stand, hosting the Southern Conn. Owls (2-10, 2-5 Northeast-10 Conference) on Saturday.  The game will mark the last time seniors Kristin Darrell (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip), Christa LaRocco (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) and Amanda McGeachey (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) compete at W.B. Mason Stadium in a regular season contest. With a win over the Owls, the Stonehill College Women's Lacrosse team (9-2, 7-0 Northeast-10 Conference) would move one step closer to their tenth straight Northeast-10 Conference Regular Season crown - a title the program has held every year since their inception in 1999.

The game, which pins the NE-10's top-ranked team against the eighth place Owls, has special significance because Darrell, a senior, stands just five goals away from tying Erin Acone (2003-2006) for first on Stonehill College's All-Time Scoring List.  Darrell, who averages 3.09 goals per game, will look to exploit a Southern Conn.'s defense that has allowed 18.18 scores per game.

Michelle Kelly (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) continued her impressive play with three goals and three assists in Stonehill's 19-2 win over Assumption College on Wednesday.  In the last three contests, Kelly has 11 goals and six assists for seven total points.  Five of her 11 scores came in the second half of Stonehill 14-10 loss to No. 3 Adelphi University.  Kelly, a junior, is tied for third in the NE-10 with 3.90 goals per game.  Her total point average (5.50) stands second behind Franklin Pierce's Lauren Stille's 5.64 mark.

The Skyhawks' defense will look to take advantage of the Owl's attackers - who lead the Conference with 23.73 turnovers per game. Southern Conn. ranks in the bottom three with 10.36 goals per game, as well.

The game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at W.B. Mason Stadium.  Senior day events will be held before the game.
