Skyhawks Conclude NE-10 Schedule at Saint Michael's

Easton, Mass. -
The Stonehill College Women's Lacrosse team (11-2, 9-0 Northeast-10 Conference) conclude their 2008 Conference schedule with a trip to Burlington, Vt. for a match up with the Saint Michael's College Purple Knights (7-5, 5-3 Northeast-10 Conference).  The Purple Knights are 2-3 at home this season, dropping their third contest 22-3 on Sunday to No. 1 C.W. Post.  The Skyhawks are 3-0 on the road with wins over Bentley College, Bryant University and American International College.  They have outscored opponents 52-15 as visitors this season.

Stonehill's red-hot offense claimed their second consecutive 20-point game on Tuesday, defeating the American International Yellow Jackets, 20-2.  Prior to the past two contests the Skyhawks had scored over 20 goals only once, a 21-2 win over Franklin Pierce.  Still, the Purple and White have scored 15-plus tallies in ten of their 13 games.

Juniors Michelle Kelly (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham), Mary Maloney (Great River, N.Y./Saint Anthony's) and senior Kristin Darrell (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) have provided the majority of Stonehill's number two ranked offense (16.83 goals-per game).  The three have combined for 125 of the Skyhawks' 222 team goals. Kelly leads the way for the reigning Northeast-10 Conference Champions with 48 tallies, 23 assists and 71 total points.

For the third straight contest, the Skyhawks' defense held their opponents to just two scores.  Senior goaltender Amanda McGeachey (Saco, Maine/Thornton) has logged 710:50 minutes in goal.  Her 6.25 goals against average ranks first in the Northeast-10 Conference, nearly six goals better than Saint Michael's goalie Courtney Wakem's third place mark (12.92).

The Skyhawks won a share of their tenth straight Northeast-10 Conference Regular Season title with Tuesday's win over American International.  A win over Saint Michael's would result in sole possession of the Conference crown and the top-seed in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship Tournament.
