Easton, Mass. - The Stonehill Women's Lacrosse team scored seven unanswered goals in their 17-7 home opener victory over the Molloy College Lady Lions (1-1, 0-0 ECC) Saturday afternoon.  Junior Mary Maloney (Great River, N.Y./St. Anthony's) and captain Kristin Darrell (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) each chipped in with four scores apiece as the Skyhawks (1-0, 0-0 Northeast-10) exploded for 11 markers in the second half.

Darrell, a senior, sparked Stonehill's offense with two early goals to spot the Skyhawks a 2-0 lead.   Maloney and sophomore Liza Gross (Loudonville, N.Y./Shaker) followed with a goal each to extend the host team's lead to 4-1.

Molloy struck back to two goals each from sophomores Rebecca LaFlare and Kristie Sosnowski.  Second year starter Kristina Wargo also scored to conclude Molloy's five-goal effort in the first half.  The Skyhawks held a slim 6-5 advantage headed into the break.

Jackie Ladino (North Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth) and Hannah Anderson (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) took over from there.  Ladino, a sophomore, took a perfect pass from Anderson in for her second score of the day.  The teammates repeated the same play seconds later for Ladino's third score.  Anderson, a freshman, matched Ladino's scores with two of her own to give the Skyhawks a commanding 10-5 lead.

Minutes later Darrell added her third score while Maloney and Gross claimed their second markers.  It took Stonehill only half a period to expand a one goal lead at the half to an eight goal advantage, the largest of the game.

Senior Amanda McGeachey (Saco, Maine/Thorton Academy) made seven saves in head coach Katie Lambert's first win coaching the Purple and White.  The women return to action Wednesday when they host Merrimack College.  The game is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
