In addition to being named All-America and Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Year, junior Michelle Kelly was also the 2007 Northeast-10 Tournament Most Valuable Player.



Washington, D.C. - Stonehill junior Michelle Kelly (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) is one of 44 women named to the 2008 Warrior Tewaarton Trophy watch list it has been announced.

The players on the list were nominated by coaches across all three divisions and are early season hopefuls for the 2008 award, given out annually to the top male and female varsity collegiate lacrosse player in the nation.

Kelly, the reigning Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Year, was named an IWLCA/US First-Team All-America after a sophomore campaign that saw her register 89 points, including 60 goals.

The Skyhawks finished the 2007 campaign with an overall mark of 18-2, including a perfect 10-0 ledger in Northeast-10 play that featured Stonehill's ninth straight regular season crown and eighth consecutive conference tournament title.

Stonehill, currently ranked sixth in the most recent release of the IWCLA's weekly poll, opens their season on Saturday with a home game against Molloy beginning at 11 a.m.
