Boxscore

Easton, Mass. - The Stonehill College Women's Lacrosse team (4-1, 3-0 Northeast-10 Conference) scored 14 unanswered goals in the first half on their way to totaling a season-best 21 markers.  In the process, the Skyhawks claimed their third conference victory of 2008, defeating the Franklin Pierce Ravens (1-4, 1-3 Northeast-10 Conference), 21-2.  The win is not only the most goals scored this season, it is the women's largest margin of victory (19) since 2007's 24-4 win over Southern Conn.

Ten different Skyhawks scored in Saturday's contest.  Among them were Rebecca Cottam (Belmont, Mass./Belmont) and Devin O'Leary (Framingham, Mass./Framingham), each claimed their first tally of the year.  Freshman Kathryn Ford (Brookhaven, N.Y./Bellport) scored her second and third goals of the season, as well.

However, it was the usual suspects that led the way for the Skyhawks once again.  Senior captain Kristin Darrell (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) scored all four of her goals within the first 15 minutes of action. She also added an assist for five total points.  Junior Mary Maloney (Great River, N.Y./St. Anthony's) added two early scores to contribute to Stonehill's 14-0 lead at halftime.  Maloney finished with three scores and two ground balls.

Michelle Kelly (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) added three scores in the second half to put the Purple and White up 17-1.  Kelly, a junior, finished with four markers and three assists for seven total points.  She currently leads the team in goals (19), assists (7) and points (26).

Amanda McGeachey (Saco, Maine/Thornton) was relieved five minutes into the second half.  The senior captain made two saves and was 2-2 on clear opportunities.  Junior Justine Ferland (Portsmouth, N.H./Pinkerton) allowed only two goals in her second appearance to preserve the victory for the Skyhawks.

The women are back at it tomorrow.  Stonehill will play host to St. Thomas Aquinas in a non-conference match up at W.B. Mason Stadium.  Game time is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
