Anderson Sparks Come From Behind Win Over Bentley

Boxscore

Waltham, Mass. - The Stonehill College Women's Lacrosse team (6-1, 4-0 Northeast-10 Conference) claimed their fourth conference win, 14-8, over the Bentley College Falcons (3-4, 2-3 Northeast-10 Conference) Wednesday night.  Despite trailing 6-5 at halftime, the Skyhawks rallied, behind Hannah Anderson (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) for nine second-period goals for their first road victory of 2008.

Rivals Stonehill and Bentley traded goals throughout the first period.  Three first-period goals from Liza Gross (Loudonville, N.Y./Shaker) and a marker each from Michelle Kelly (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) and Christa LaRocco (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) helped the Skyhawks early.  But it was Bentley who headed into the break with the lead.

The Skyhawks came out on fire in the second half, scoring four unanswered to take a 9-6 lead.  Two second-half scores from Bentley's Leigh Tedeschi were all the offense the Falcons could muster against Stonehill's shutdown defense.

Kristin Darrell (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) added a goal and two assists in Stonehill's win. Anderson, a freshman, led the second-half surge with three goals and two assists for five total points.  Gross, a sophomore, matched Anderson's point total with four goals and an assist.

Amanda McGeachey (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) allowed only eight goals in 60 minutes in net.  She improved to 6-1 with the victory.

The Skyhawks return to action Friday night when they host Southern N.H. under the lights at W.B. Mason Stadium.  Game time is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
