Stonehill Prepares for Rival Bentley

Senior Kristin Darrell is 10 markers away from second on Stonehill's all-time scoring list.

 

 

Easton, Mass. - The Stonehill College Women's Lacrosse team (5-1, 3-0 Northeast-10) will travel to Waltham to take on the Bentley College Falcons (3-3, 2-2 Northeast-10) in their fourth Northeast-10 Conference game of 2008.  The Skyhawks have already claimed conference wins over Merrimack College, Saint Anselm and Franklin Pierce to increase their program's NE-10 unbeaten streak to 71 straight games.  Stonehill's last loss came during head coach Katie Lambert's freshman year, on April 16th, 2000 to Bentley in overtime. 

The Skyhawks have scored 104 goals in their six games this season - boasting a Conference-best 17.33 goal per game average. The Purple and White are ranked fourth in assists (6.67) and third in points per game (24.0).  Not to be outdone, the Skyhawks' defense ranks first in goals against average (5.34) and second in caused turnovers per game (11.17).

Stonehill's one-two punch of Kristin Darrell (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) and junior Michelle Kelly (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) have combined for 43 of Stonehill's 104 markers.  Darrell, a senior, leads the team with 22 goals scored.  Kelly's 5.80 points per game have come from 21 goals and eight assists.

Bentley has a scary two-some of their own in Alyssa Richie and Jaclyn Griffin, who together comprise the highest scoring duo in the Northeast-10.  Richie's 35 points (5.83) have come from 23 goals and 12 assists while Griffin added 17 goals an 11 assists (4.67 points per game).

The Stonehill College Women's Lacrosse program is 15-1 lifetime against the Falcons.  They have outscored their Conference rival 204-83 during their run.  The women's goal total is third most against all opponents.
