Crunch Time: Stonehill and Adelphi Set to Clash on Saturday

Easton, Mass. -
The Skyhawks are set the host No. 3 Adelphi University (8-0, 2-0 East Coast Conference) on Saturday in a show down between two of the top Divisions II women's lacrosse programs in the nation.  The No. 6 Stonehill College Women's Lacrosse team (8-1, 6-0 Northeast-10 Conference) is currently riding a five-game unbeaten streak, including two Conference victories in the past week over No. 10 Southern N.H, 16-12, and Bryant University, 18-5.

Co-captain Kristin Darrell (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) enters Saturday's game on the verge of a career milestone.  The senior midfielder has six goals in her last two games, moving her career total to 217 markers.  Darrell is only three scores away from Head Coach Katie Lambert's (2000-2003) 220 career record.  With six regular-season games remaining, Darrell, who averages 3.2 goals per game, stands just 10 markers from Erin Acone's College-best 227 total.

The Adelphi Panthers are led by an explosive offense that registered 20-plus goals in four of their eight victories.  In eight games, the undefeated Panthers average a margin of victory of 9.5.  For all their success, Adelphi did have trouble with the NE-10's Bentley College Falcons, narrowly escaping with 17-13 win in Waltham.  On the other hand, Adelphi handled the University of New Haven in the game prior to the Chargers defeating Stonehill in Easton.

Stonehill and Adelphi each have three goal scorers with over 20 tallies.  Darrell, Michelle Kelly (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) and Mary Maloney (Great River, N.Y./Saint Anthony's) combined for 85 markers, 56% of Stonehill's total offense. Adelphi's Rachel Ray, Kaitlyn Carter and Michelle Ceraso together total 69 scores, 45% of their team's offense.  Ironically, both squads have scored exactly 152 total goals.

Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at W.B. Mason Stadium.
