BROOKVILLE, N.Y.-- Sophomore Elaine Williams (East Islip, N.Y.) netted a hat trick and an assist for four points to lift top-ranked C.W. Post to a 13-9 non-league college women's lacrosse victory over third-ranked Stonehill Saturday afternoon at Hickox Field.

The host Pioneers (15-1) jumped out to a 5-1 lead just 13:45 into the contest, sparked by a pair of goals off the stick of junior Lauren LoMonaco (Massapequa, N.Y.), but the visiting Skyhawks (14-3) netted five of the next six goals to forge a 6-6 tie in the waning seconds of the half, as senior All-America Jenny McGrath (Milton, Mass.) scored a pair and set up two others in Stonehill's run. Junior Mallory Poole's (Corning, N.Y.) goal with 15 seconds to play in the half staked C.W. Post to a 7-6 edge at the break, but senior All-America Erin Acone's (Bow, N.H.) second goal of the day 1:26 into the second half forged the final tie of the day for the visitors, as the Pioneers scored five of the next six goals of the match to open up a 12-8 lead with under 10 minutes to play and post their triumph.

Williams, Poole and sophomore Colleen Agostinacchio (Bellmore, N.Y.) each netted hat tricks in the win for C.W. Post, which also received single tallies off the sticks of senior Masina Longo (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and freshman Jaclyn Napoli (West Islip, N.Y.). Junior Shannon Fabian (Rocky Point, N.Y.) and sophomore Jenna Miller (Silver Spring, Md.) each added four assists on the day for the Pioneers.

McGrath led all scorers with a hat trick and three assists for six points in the setback for Stonehill, as she became the second player in school history to eclipse the 100-point plateau for a season with 102 points to date. McGrath joins Katie Lambert as the only two Skyhawks to accomplish the feat, as Lambert netted a school-record 104 points during the 2002 campaign. Acone became the eighth player in Division II history to surpass the 300 career point mark with a pair of markers on the day for Stonehill, as she now has 301 points and stands second all-time among Division II goal scorers with 242. Freshman Michelle Kelly (Mendham, N.J.) chipped in with a pair of goals as well for the Skyhawks, who also received single tallies from the West Islip, N.Y. sophomore tandem of Kristin Darrell and Christa LaRocco.

Senior Chrissy Esposito (East Islip, N.Y.) and sophomore Lauren Scipione (East Meadow, N.Y.) combined for nine saves in goal in the win for C.W. Post, while senior All-America Lauren Stone (Guilderland, N.Y.) made six stops in net for Stonehill as the Pioneers outshot the Skyhawks 26-20.

Stonehill will be the top-seed in the upcoming Northeast-10 Conference championships for the eighth straight season and will host a league semi-final round at W.B. Mason Stadium next Saturday afternoon beginning at 1:00 p.m. C.W. Post will also be idle until next Saturday when the Pioneers travel to Garden City, N.Y. for a NYCAC showdown with second-ranked Adelphi that begins at 11:00 a.m.
