BLUFFTON, S.C. – Junior All-America Erin Acone (Bow, N.H.) and freshman Kristin Darrell (West Islip, N.Y.) each netted five goals and added an assist to lead Stonehill to a 21-2 non-league college women’s lacrosse victory over Regis (Colo.) on Saturday afternoon in Bluffton, S.C.

Acone’s performance saw her net the 100th goal of her career for the Chieftains (2-0), who are now winners of eight straight dating back to last season. Stonehill also received a strong effort from senior Courtney Duggan (Billerica, Mass.) who scored four first-half goals to carry the Chieftains to a 14-1 advantage at the half.

The Chieftains also received two-goal performances from sophomore Tracey Hoffman (Nashua, N.H.), junior Jenny McGrath (Milton, Mass.) and senior All-America Colby Confer (Madison, Conn.) who also notched two assists on the day. Senior Brenna Newfell (Billerica, Mass.) converted her second goal of the season and freshman Christa LaRocco (West Islip, N.Y.) added an assist for her first collegiate point.

Senior Salli Schlacks (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) and sophomore Chrissy Yetter (Silver Spring, Md.) each tabbed markers for the Rangers (1-2).

Junior Lauren Stone (Guilderland, N.Y.) recorded two saves over forty five minutes of action to earn the victory in goal for the Chieftains, while freshman Amanda McGeachey (Saco, Maine) made one save in fifteen minutes of play. Sophomore Jen Ledford (Parker, Colo.) made eight saves on the day for Regis as the Chieftains outshot the Rangers by a 32-5 margin.

Stonehill returns to action Thursday, March 17th, as they travel to New Britain, Conn. to take on Division I Central Connecticut in a non-league match beginning at 3:30 p.m.
