Storrs, Conn. - Connecticut's three first-team All-Americans combined to score 50 points on 19-of-34 shooting as the nation's No. 1 team posted a convincing 100-49 exhibition win over visiting Stonehill on Thursday night in front of 7,624 fans at Gampel Pavilion.

The Huskies opened the game on an 11-0 run in the game's first two minutes and never looked back as they forced three turnovers before the Skyhawks ever attempted a shot. For the game UConn turned 28 Stonehill miscues into 35 points.

Sophomore Maya Moore had 14 points, 11 rebounds, four steals, three assists and three blocks for the Huskies, while Tina Charles provided the interior scoring, posting a game-high 19 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four blocks. Renee Montgomery contributed 17 points, six steals and four assists.

Connecticut shot 51 percent in the first half and 48 for the game while holding Stonehill to a 27 percent clip and didn't allow the Skyhawks to score a basket for the final 8:36 of the contest. Meanwhile, they controlled the inside, outscoring the visitors 46-16 in the paint and 16-2 on the fast break.

Stonehill, ranked No. 8 in the USA Today/ESPN Division II Preseason Coaches' Poll, was paced by junior Kelsey Simonds (Middleboro, Mass.) who finished with 12 points and four rebounds while Megan Methven (Corning, N.Y.) added eight points and three assists.

The Skyhawks also got quality performances from newcomers Emily Rousseau (Biddeford, Maine) (six points, three rebounds) and Tania Williams (South Setauket, N.Y.) who added four points and a team-high six rebounds.

Now with their only exhibition of the year out of the way, Stonehill opens its regular season on Saturday, November 15 at home against Shepherd (W.Va.) at 3:00 p.m.
